1. Who we are

This website is run by Veritone Services, a business registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria under Business Name No. 8940276, with its principal place of business at 41 Trust Avenue, Agbado/Oke-Odo, Lagos State, Nigeria. We are the data controller for the information described in this notice.

2. What this notice covers

It covers this website only. Cognita, our application at app.cognita.com.ng, has its own privacy policy, which applies to accounts, files, messages and connected accounts.

3. What this website collects

This website has no accounts, no sign-up forms, no comment sections, no advertising and no analytics. It does not set cookies.

Like any website, our hosting provider automatically records technical information when a page is requested, such as the IP address, the time, the page requested and the browser type. This is used to deliver the site, keep it secure and diagnose faults.

4. When you contact us

If you email or phone us, we receive whatever you choose to tell us, including your name, contact details and the content of your message. We use it to reply to you and to keep a reasonable record of the conversation. We do not use it for marketing.

5. Why we may process it

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, we rely on our legitimate interests in running a secure website and answering enquiries, and, where you ask us to do something, on steps needed to respond to that request. Where the law requires it, we will ask for your consent instead.

6. Who else sees it

• Our website hosting provider, which serves the pages and keeps the technical logs described above.
• Our email provider, which handles messages sent to info@cognita.com.ng.
• Authorities, if the law requires us to disclose information.

We do not sell personal information.

7. Transfers outside Nigeria

Our hosting and email providers may process information on servers outside Nigeria. Where that happens we expect appropriate safeguards to be in place, as the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 requires.

8. How long we keep it

Hosting logs are kept by the provider for a short period under its own retention rules. Correspondence is kept for as long as we need it to deal with your request and to keep sensible business records, and is then deleted.

9. Your rights

You may ask us to confirm whether we hold information about you, give you a copy, correct it, delete it, or stop using it in certain ways. You may also object to certain uses. To make a request, email info@cognita.com.ng with "Privacy request" in the subject line. We may need to confirm who you are first.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

10. Security

The website is served over HTTPS and sends security headers that limit what a page can load. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the small amount of information we hold.

11. Children

This website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from them through it.

12. Changes

If we change this notice we will update the date at the top of the page.
